220 kV Transmission Line from Chimtala to Tarakhel

The 220 kV Double Circuit, double Conductor Transmission Line project from Chemtala to Tarakhail is a transformative infrastructure initiative designed to strengthen Afghanistan's power transmission and distribution network. This endeavor is being carried out as a turnkey EPC venture by GSP-MBRCC JV, a trusted collaboration known for delivering sustainable and high-quality energy solutions.
The project is owned by the Ministry of Energy and Water and is financed through private investment fromAwfi Bahram Trading and Mining Processing Company, highlighting the significant role of the private sector in advancing Afghanistan’s energy infrastructure.
The scope includes the comprehensive design, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of a state-of-the-art substation that will significantly improve energy distribution and enhance operational reliability. The project is set for completion within 24 months from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed (NTP) by the Ministry of Energy and Water. Upon completion, the project will increase Afghanistan’s National Power System capacity by an additional 300 MW, benefiting approximately 150,000 to 180,000 families, as well as supporting industrial and commercial growth.
