Introduction:

The 220 kV transmission line project from Asqalan to Dasht-e-Archi, Kunduz is a major infrastructure initiative designed to strengthen Afghanistan’s power grid and provide reliable electricity to underserved communities. This project reflects the government’s commitment to expanding energy access, reducing regional disparities, and supporting socio-economic development in Kunduz province.

Project Overview:

The 220 kV Asqalan–Dasht-e-Archi transmission line project involves building a 44‑kilometer high‑voltage line to connect the existing Asqalan substation with a newly constructed substation in Dasht‑e‑Archi, Kunduz province. Designed with a capacity of 220 kilovolts, it will provide stable and large‑scale electricity transmission to one of Afghanistan’s most underserved districts. The project is scheduled for completion within 18 months, with a total budget of approximately 535 million Afghanis funded by the Ministry of Finance, and is being implemented by Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) to meet international engineering standards and ensure long‑term reliability.
